The Advisory Board for Chicago Recruiters is responsible for setting the overall strategy and direction for the community, content, education and agendas for our recruiting conferences and events.





With over 20 years of recruiting and human resources leadership experience, Jason Buss is a recognized expert with deep experience in identifying, recruiting and hiring high-performing teams. He is currently the Vice President of Global Talent Acquisition & Workforce Strategy for MongoDB.

Jason founded the Recruiters Network in 2011, an organization committed to advancing the talent acquisition profession through continuing education, professional development, recruiting conferences and networking events. Jason has built and led several of the nation’s largest and most active regional recruiting communities and he has authored and published content in, and has been quoted by The Huffington Post, Fast Company, Bloomberg, MarketWatch, Society for Human Resource Management, Corporate Executive Board and more.

Outside of work you can find Jason enjoying the outdoors in the Bay Area, indulging in froyo, exploring a new part of the world on vacation, hanging out with his family, or tending to their adorable yet bossy Pekingese named Otis.

Rob Trzcinski has more than ten years of experience in the staffing and recruiting industry, and joined  LaSalle Network, one of the fastest growing staffing and recruiting firms in the country, in 2008.

Rob has worked in recruiting, sales and management during his tenure at LaSalle, earning more than five promotions in ten years. Rob helped launched LaSalle Network's technology recruiting practice, now one of its fastest-growing staffing verticals, and today, Rob advises clients ranging from start-ups to  Fortune 100 companies on their growth and the talent they need to thrive. 

During his time with LaSalle, Rob has earned LaSalle’s Producer of the Quarter award, Producer of the Year, as well as the Sales’ Team Gold Club in 2017.

Rob grew up in Midland, MI, earned a BBA from Northwood University and lives in Chicago with his wife.

Matt is the Director of Partner Relations with Carex Consulting Group.  Matt has 20 years of Human Resources experience specializing in the field of talent acquisition.  Specific areas of concentration include recruitment strategy, workforce planning, assessment and selection, metrics, candidate experience and process design.  Matt is a strong proponent of leveraging technology in the recruiting process where he has experience with multiple applicant tracking systems and leverages numerous existing and emerging recruiting tools/resources. 

A little bit more about Matt:

  • Matt is the President of Wisconsin Recruiters, a networking and professional development organization for Talent Acquisition professionals throughout Wisconsin.
  • Matt is a member of the Board of Directors of Junior Achievement Dane County and is on the planning committee for Food-for-Kidz, a local non-profit that has packaged and distributed over 2 million meals worldwide since its inception in 2006.
  • Matt was born in Connecticut, grew up in Massachusetts and Minnesota, and lived in Colorado for several years before moving to Madison in 2000.


Taylor Martinez is the Marketing & Events Specialist for the Recruiters Network. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of St.Thomas in 2018. While studying at the University of St. Thomas she had the opportunity to study abroad in Ireland, Argentina, and Brazil. Also, during the completion of her degree, she underwent many different work experiences such as being a Marketing Research Intern for Sidewalk Dog, Social Media Intern for Hy-Vee, and Talent Acquisition & Social Media Intern for Spok. Throughout her experiences, she has become increasingly interested in social media and how its use can shape and grow an organization.

Taylor has proudly lived in Minnesota her whole life. She is passionate about volunteering and has spent numerous hours volunteering with the Jeremiah Program. In her free time, she enjoys partaking in outdoor activities such as hiking and swimming, as well as going for walks with her adorable English Mastiff named Mabel.



Andrew is a Lead Technology Recruiter for TransUnion and has been an in-house Recruiter for over seven years.  He has a passion for new cutting-edge technologies and created the Tech Exploration Committee, a team that is responsible for exploring, discovering, assessing, and implementing new talent technologies that help TransUnion recruit more effectively and efficiently.  In addition to technology, he enjoys organizing and directing Diversity and Inclusion programs. 

Andrew graduated from the University of Michigan with Bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Mass Communications. 



Sakena Gardner's professional background is in recruiting, operational leadership and program management.  She is currently a Manager of Talent Acquisition for Lenovo, leading a full cycle recruitment team with responsibility for North America and Latin America.  Prior to joining Lenovo, Sakena spent several years providing consulting expertise to 40+ enterprise software companies across the globe. During her 10 year tenure with Xerox, she applied lean concepts to drive process efficiencies across a variety of programs and operations.  

Her passion for operational process efficiency, recruiting expertise, strong leadership and program management abilities have allowed her to successfully build and lead high performing Talent Acquisition organizations.

Sakena and her husband live in the Western Chicago suburbs.  Together, they enjoy traveling, spending time at home with their young son and volunteering to provide aid to the underserved youth in Chicago.   



Adam Sprecher is Director of Business Operations with Salo, a staffing and consulting firm that places senior-level finance and accounting professionals on an interim, contract or direct-hire basis, and senior-level human resources consultants in on-demand, contract roles.

As Director of Business Operations, Adam is responsible for ensuring Salo’s business development teams have the tools, training, and resources required to be a stand-out leader in all markets they serve.

Adam has more than 15 years of experience in the recruiting industry and holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Augsburg College in Minneapolis.



Robert G Common II (RG) is a Senior Talent Partner at Best Buy supporting 9 midwestern states and an HR Practitioner with over 15+ years within Talent Acquisition & HR Project Management experience.  RG has provided consultation for numerous Financial Services, Information Technology, Professional Services, Operations Strategy, M&A and Risk Management requisitions.

RG is a Business Doctoral Candidate at Liberty University-Online with a key goal to contribute to diversification within corporate HR and the restructure of employment law. He is also a certified Six Sigma Black Belt Professional, PHR certified,  member of SHRM - Society for Human Resource, and a member of AOM – Academy of Management, International.

RG is versatile as an individual contributor but also as a true team member.  He stands by the old college motto that “teamwork makes the dream work”.
